Georgia CDL practice test
Getting a commercial driver's licence in Georgia starts with the CDL knowledge tests. The content is federal: every state, Georgia included, writes its tests from the FMCSA CDL manual, so the general knowledge test has 50 questions, the endorsement tests have 20 to 30, and the passing score is 80% on each. The Georgia driver licensing agency administers the test; the rules behind it are published by the FMCSA. Try the free Georgia CDL practice questions below, then pick a full test.

- Once every few miles
- Regularly, and especially before changing lanes, turning, or merging
- Only when backing up

When should you check that your mirrors are properly adjusted?
- While driving, with the trailer in a turn
- Only after the vehicle has been washed
- Only when another driver uses the truck
- Before a trip, with the trailer straight
Show answer

The right way to signal a turn is to:
- Signal early, keep the signal on through the turn, and cancel it after the turn
- Signal just as you start to turn
- Flash the signal once and turn it off
- Use the four-way flashers instead of a turn signal
Show answer
Answer: A. Signal early, keep the signal on through the turn, and cancel it after the turnDrivers around you need time to react, so signal early and keep it on. Cancelling afterward is important because a signal left on confuses other drivers.

When changing lanes, after signaling and checking your mirrors, you should move over:
- As quickly as possible to clear the lane
- Slowly, so a driver you did not see has time to honk or move away
- Without looking again, since you already signaled
- Only after turning off the signal
Show answer
Answer: B. Slowly, so a driver you did not see has time to honk or move awayLarge vehicles have big blind spots. Moving over smoothly and slowly gives a driver hidden in that blind spot a chance to warn you before you hit them.

- Open your window and wave
- Tap the brake pedal a few times to flash your brake lights
- Sound the horn repeatedly
Show answer
Answer: C. Tap the brake pedal a few times to flash your brake lightsFlashing your brake lights alerts the drivers behind you before you slow. Do this when you must slow for a turn, a stop where others may not expect one, or a slow-moving vehicle ahead.

How the Georgia CDL knowledge test works
You take the general knowledge test first; it is required for every CDL class. Class A drivers add the combination vehicles test. Almost everyone takes the air brakes test, because skipping it puts an air brake restriction on the licence. Endorsements (hazmat, tanker, doubles/triples, passenger, school bus) each have their own knowledge test. Pass the tests and you hold a commercial learner's permit; the skills test in a truck comes later.
Fees, appointment rules and test centre locations are set by Georgia and change over time, so check the state driver licensing agency before you go. What does not change is the content, and that is what PassRig drills.
