Missouri CDL practice test
Getting a commercial driver's licence in Missouri starts with the CDL knowledge tests. The content is federal: every state, Missouri included, writes its tests from the FMCSA CDL manual, so the general knowledge test has 50 questions, the endorsement tests have 20 to 30, and the passing score is 80% on each. The Missouri driver licensing agency administers the test; the rules behind it are published by the FMCSA. Try the free Missouri CDL practice questions below, then pick a full test.

When using a fire extinguisher, you should aim it at:
- The top of the flames
- The base of the fire, staying as far away as possible and upwind
- The smoke above the fire
- The ground in front of you to make a barrier
Show answer
Answer: B. The base of the fire, staying as far away as possible and upwindThe extinguishing agent must reach the burning material, not the flames above it. Stay upwind so the agent reaches the fire and the heat and smoke move away from you, and keep spraying until whatever was burning is cool.

Which type of fire should you put out with a lot of water?
- A gasoline fire
- An electrical fire
- A tire fire
- A diesel fuel fire

A CDL driver found operating a commercial vehicle with any detectable amount of alcohol below 0.04% BAC will be:

- Fined but allowed to keep driving
- Disqualified for one year
- Placed out of service for 24 hours
Show answer

- Time
- Black coffee

A 12-ounce beer, a 5-ounce glass of wine, and a 1.5-ounce shot of liquor:
- Contain very different amounts, with beer the weakest
- All contain about the same amount of alcohol
- Are safe to drink before driving if you eat first
- Count as one drink only if consumed together
Show answer
Answer: B. All contain about the same amount of alcoholEach is one standard drink with roughly the same amount of pure alcohol. The type of drink does not matter; the number of drinks and the time since drinking determine your blood alcohol concentration.

How the Missouri CDL knowledge test works
You take the general knowledge test first; it is required for every CDL class. Class A drivers add the combination vehicles test. Almost everyone takes the air brakes test, because skipping it puts an air brake restriction on the licence. Endorsements (hazmat, tanker, doubles/triples, passenger, school bus) each have their own knowledge test. Pass the tests and you hold a commercial learner's permit; the skills test in a truck comes later.
Fees, appointment rules and test centre locations are set by Missouri and change over time, so check the state driver licensing agency before you go. What does not change is the content, and that is what PassRig drills.
